This theory comes from twitter @FilmStudyPod and I decided to take my own swing at it.
The prompt is “…Tell us which actors you would cast in a movie about the Cleveland Browns and what role would they play.”
Now this just seemed too fun to not attempt and please let me know if you disagree below.
- John Dorsey – Kevin Costner
This one comes mostly from the movie “Draft Day” as Costner saves the Browns in the movie (in theory) and Dorsey has done the same so far. Plus they are about the same height and weight so workouts out perfectly.
- Joe Thomas – Chris Pratt
What better than to get someone to play the legend himself than a guy who went from an honest small name to huge A list actor such as our beloved Joe Thomas has done as he is now Mr. Thursday Night Football. Also they both went from fat to really in shape dudes.
- Baker Mayfield – Taron Egerton
Looking for a stocky yet muscular smart mouthed guy took some thought, however this one is a straight derivative thought from the movie series “Kingsman” where Taron Egerton plays a defying all odds foul mouthed hero, such as our own number 6.
- Tyrod Taylor – Donald Glover
Needed a well spoken and very chill tempered guy for this role and who better than Donald Glover. Glover is known for being a sort of relaxed role who often has wise things to say. I accredit Tyrod for taking Baker under his wing, even though we all know he wanted to be the starter. Good luck in L.A.
- Johnny Manziel – Zac Efron
This one was probably the hardest to embody the success and downfall of a party crazed 20 year old man, and I feel Efron hits this one on the dot. Efron mostly plays the douche-bag role in most movies and Manziel was sort of known for his antics and Efron could really pull this role off.
- Odell Beckham Jr – Michael B. Jordan
OBJ to MBJ right here, who else could pull off the OBJ on the field passion and off the field personality than Michael B. Jordan as he has shown from the “Creed” movie series to the diversity of “Black Panther” being Killmonger, I believe this role MBJ could crush.
- Jarvis Landry – Chadwick Boseman
Just like Jarvis and Odell are teaming back up, why not have Boseman and Jordan rejoin like they did in “Black Panther”. Boseman does have an American accent he can do as seen in “Draft Day” (also Costner and Boseman could rejoin forces here). Boseman does have a similar hair to Jarvis also.
- Hue Jackson – Laurence Fishburne
Now Laurence Fishburne to me is a villain in most movies and Hue Jackson is not a guy well liked in Cleveland to say the least.
- Josh Gordon – Jaden Smith
Who better to play marijuana’s favorite guy than Jaden Smith, a fellow confusing character known for having talent yet always doing and saying questionable things.
- Myles Garrett – John Boyega
Myles is a unique fellow as he is an intellectual muscle machine, John Boyega fits him well as he has the size and character that could pull off the dinosaur loving charisma of Myles, hopefully he likes dogs as much as Myles does.
- Jimmy / Dee Haslam – Steve Martin & Amy Poehler
Sort of an odd matchup of comedy stars here but an exciting goofy couple that can pull off the owners who always seem to feel the need to butt in on everything happening. In a movie these two could really make for an interesting background side pair.
- Freddie Kitchens – Jeff Bridges
Finding someone with the hard country accent and charisma is no easy task, but I think Bridges could pull this role off and with ease as he resembles a lot of what Kitchens embodies, just hope he is okay with losing his hair flow.
